Newt Gingrich

I strongly dislike Newt Gingrich. There’s just so many reasons why a normal person would. For example, he was charged with 84 ethics violations during his 4 years as Speaker of the House. Eighty four. The average person would probably be very ashamed and embarrassed about an ordeal like this, yet Gingrich has one of the biggest egos I have ever seen.

Today, I read something online that destroyed any last shreds of respect I had for him. After two American troops were killed in Afghanistan, a group of American troops were found burning Korans. President Obama apologized to the President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai for this incident. Gingrich then Tweeted, ”It is an outrage that on the day an Afghan soldier murders two American troops, Pres. Obama is the one apologizing.”

How is burning the Koran fixing anything? I mean, I hate hearing about soldiers being killed; it’s awful, but burning Korans is like saying that every Muslim in the entire world (more than 1.6 billion people or 26% of the world) is responsible for the deaths of these two men. President Obama isn’t apologizing because the men were killed, he’s apologizing for a group of people that offended an entire religion. Gingrich is just trying to misconstrue Obama’s words to make him look like the bad guy. The only outrage here is that Gingrich can so easily insult over 1.6 million Muslims at once, not to mention all the non-Muslims who are offended, such as myself.

If Newt Gingrich is somehow elected president in 2012, I hope he really does start those moon colonies he talked about. Sign me up, because I want to stay as far away from him as possible.
